A LOOK AT THE FUTURE!!

As our stallion *Sandman is homozygous for curls we have the opportunity to handpick mares that will be excellent crosses with him to produce the kind of all around athletic Curly horses that buyers want.

As we advance in our breeding program and goals, the number of outcross mares that we use has become smaller and we have become even more focused on using ONLY exceptional quality mares to improve on our Curlies.

RF Light Serenade

RJ Light Serenade (aka Mirage)

1993 Purebred Arabian - 14.1 hh. Mirage is one of my very favorite riding horses. I love to take her out on the trails and we have ridden many endurance rides as well. She is fast and competitive, with a "quirky" temperament that I adore. She is gentle and easy to handle, but a real go-getter under saddle.

Mirage is a well bred Arabian, what is referred to as "racing bred" - have a look at her pedigree:

In 2007 Mirage produced a wonderful, high quality, very Curly, beautiful and correct Arabian/Curly filly, here is a link to photos of *Sandman's Serenade. *Serenade is all that her mother is in a wonderful extra Curly package! *Serenade has taken her place now as a very favorite riding horse here at the Curly Standard Place, watch as she matures and we start doing shows and endurance with her!

2011 Mirage gave us a lovely purebred Arabian filly Dawn Cherry Red- another exceptional foal for us and one that we think will be an eventual replacement for Mirage.

For 2012 Mirage was bred to our exciting young stallion *BCF Icon, for quality, Curly, registered partbred Arabian, spotted, foal - here she is *Izzabella!

For 2013 Mirage is again bred to *Sandman's Magic - if you are interested in this foal in utero - please do let us know. Mirage is tested and confirmed negative for CA. email Shelly.

Dawn Cherry Red - purebred Arabian

Dawn Cherry Red

2011 Purebred Arabian filly - will mature to 15.0hh. Dawn Cherry is out of Mirage (listed above) and her sire is FV Aul Farwa. FV Aul Farwa is also a purebred Arabian, but he is extremely rare as has a lot of sabino colouring, which has shown up on our filly as well - we are hoping she has enough colour to also register her as a Canadian Pinto - stay tuned!

Dawn Cherry is a lovely filly, with tons of presence, correct conformation and that wonderful Arabian "in your tent" temperament that we love to cross with our Curlies. She will be a worthy replacement for her dear mom when the time comes.

2009 Purebred Arabian mare

KFR Soledad

2009 purebred, registered, Arabian mare - will mature to 15.1+hh. Soledad is a lovely, extremely wellbred young horse that we were lucky to add to our herd. She has a really nice, albiet strong personality and yet is respectful to her handlers too. She is a beautiful, elegant young horse and we will give her the time she needs to grow into the wonderful mature mare she will become and then she willl take her place as one of our riding horses and broodmares.

Registered Snowcap Appaloosa

Poplar's Sea Pearl

2005 registered, foundation Appaloosa mare, 14.2hh. With her snowcap Appaloosa colour, Pearl will be homozygous for colour (100% colour producer) and she is a lovely, young athletic, well bred horse that has so far only been used as a broodmare. She does have an exceptionally nice temperament and I am looking forward to training her to ride one of these days!

2011 Pearl produced a lovely, snowflake appaloosa, Curly filly *SM Brinsea, who has gone to her new home in Oregon.

Pearl has been bred to our exciting young, homebred, Curly/Appaloosa stallion *Snowman's Magic for an amazing Curly bred appaloosa foal for 2012. This foal may be offered for sale - please inquire!

Jazzmyn - 2005 Pinto mare

2005 Paint mare. For quite some time I have been considering adding a mare with colour to my herd and have been keeping an eye on available horses. So, when I saw photos of Jazz in January of 2012, I went right away to have a look at her.

She has the conformation, the colour, the size, the way of going, in other words all of the things that I require in a mare for breeding to my stallions.... but when I went to meet her it was definitely her temperament that decided me - she is as friendly as any Curly, perhaps more so!

Jazz is an in your pocket kind of horse - she follows everyone around for attention and I just can't go past her without stopping and saying hello.

So, she is trained to ride and will be put to work under saddle this season. We will breed her to *Sandman's Magic for a guaranteed Curly foal in the spring of 2013 and it will be with great anticipation we will wait for that baby!
